Spend an exciting day meeting church leaders, hearing about the community or parish, and appreciating its art, architecture and history. Visit Holy Name Cathedral, the center of worship for one of the largest Catholic parishes in the United States, and learn about the Cathedral’s long and glorious history. Tour Chicago’s most historic church, Old St. Pat’s, which was built in 1856 and survived the Chicago Fire of 1871. A recently completed restoration enhances the incredibly beautiful traditional design and Celtic motifs. Visit the Gothic splendor of Rockefeller Chapel on the University of Chicago Campus. The chapel is the tallest building on the campus and contains the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Carillon and Tower, a gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1932 honoring his mother. The 72-bell carillon is the second largest carillon musical instrument in the world. Enjoy lunch at Pompei in the Old Catholic district of Little Italy, where the homemade specialties have delighted generations of Chicagoans. Fee includes a step-on-guide, deluxe motor coach, lunch, taxes and gratuity. This is a cooperative trip with the Addison Park District.
