Dance and Tumbling Programs
Program Information
The Park District of Franklin Park Dance Program offers a variety of dance classes. Our instructors’ love of dance and excitement for teaching is seen in the various classes we offer. Our classes are designed to instill confidence, improve flexibility and balance, develop rhythm, encourage self-expression, and enhance memorization skills.
Attire:
Tap & Ballet Combo Classes: leotard, tights, pink or black ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
Hip Hop/Tumbling: Shirt, stretch pants and bare feet.
K-Pop: Shirt, stretch pants and gym shoes.
Broadway Musical: Dance pants and black jazz shoes.
Cheerleading: Shirt, stretch shorts/pants with grip socks.
Poms: Dance pants and black jazz shoes.
Intro to Latin Dance: Shirt, stretch pants and gym shoes.
Tumbling: Shirt, stretch shorts/pants with bare feet.

Let’s explore the art of fluid graceful movement. With attention to detail from our toes to our nose, ballet allows us to put the FUN in dance fundamentals. We will shuffle, dig, hop, stomp, and flap our way into this groovy dance style.

Dancing is so much fun it can make you wanna flip! Using the basics of both tumbling and hip hop, we will fuze together the bold and beautiful movements to make high intensity routines each week. This class is bound to have you working up a sweat and making dances you won’t forget.

K-Pop is a blend of several dance genres, some of which include, hip hop, jazz, pop, R&B, & electronic dance music (EDM). In this class, students will learn choreography done as a group to current popular Korean pop songs. Please wear comfortable clothes to move in.

Contemporary/Jazz Funk Fusion ~ Register Online!

Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that blends techniques from various genres, including ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance. Students learn to express their personalities while moving to music. Class consists of creative moves, big leaps, and graceful turns.

Ever watch your favorite sing along and wish that you were on the screen? Well now it can be! In this class we will take well known songs and learn to use our voices by signing along, all while performing. Dance styles will range from jazz, ballet, hip hop, and funk.

Let’s lift up one another’s spirit by shining so bright the whole world can hear it. In this class, cheerleaders will learn motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts, and more. Using teamwork, dancers will learn how we make pyramids and each other rise higher in this world.

In this class students, with the help of an adult accompaniment, will learn how to stretch, balance, jump, roll, flip, and dip their way into sensory-motor magic! Along with tons of fun movement, we also will explore sensory play items along with free-form dancing and creative movement.

This class gets students ready to be the best tumblers they can be. With a focus on creating a foundation of strength and body awareness in the tumblers, they will be flipping into fun in no time. Students will learn the basics of stretching, tumbling form, balance, creative movement, and all-around athleticism.

This class will have you balance beaming with joy! In each class, students will stretch, condition, and learn new tumbling skills. Forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, back bends, and back handsprings are just a few of the maneuvers covered. This class is great for helping students grow new friendships, muscles, and confidence.

Intro to Latin Dance ~ Register Online!
AGE: 7-17
In class, students will learn the fundamentals of two Latin dance styles, Salsa and Bachata. Salsa has rhythmic hip movements and fast turns and footwork. Bachata has soft hip movements, simple turns, and side-to-side footwork. Students will learn the proper footwork, posture, strength, and flexibility needed for these two dance styles. All skill levels are welcome!
