The Park District of Franklin Park understands the hardships placed on the community with schooling this fall. We standby and support Franklin Park School District 84 in its Return to Learn Plan and goal of keeping students safe. We are proud to announce a partnership with District 84 in offering childcare to those in need.
This much needed childcare is being offered at a drastically reduced cost due to a generous financial subsidy provided by District 84. Our Remote Learning Day Camp at North Park will be available to students in District 84 on days when their e-learning is remote. The camp runs from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. We will have an extended care option available from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Campers will be under guidance from our counselors while they work remotely on their schoolwork. Each child will be provided the Wi-Fi password from the district to have internet access to complete schoolwork. Campers will be divided into groups of no more than 15. Multiple groups will be in large rooms, but groups will be divided and spaced by 30 feet. Campers will be grouped according to age and groups will remain static. Family members may be grouped together. Each camper will have an assigned desk to complete assignments.
Unfortunately, due to space restrictions we cannot offer Wednesday care to everyone at this time. “A” and “B” groups will alternate attending on Wednesdays. We also cannot offer care for students released at 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. We are monitoring the volume of registrations and may be able to offer these if space allows.
Registration is available in person at the Community Center or online. You will not be able to register online unless you have an account set up. You can set up your account at fpparks.org. While we know this does not meet everyone’s needs, we are excited to offer a program during this challenging time.
