An Invitation to a Barbecue at Timber Park

Dear Residents & Families,

The Park District has plans to upgrade Timber and Hawthorne Parks in the next two years. Because the Parks are only one block apart, we want to be sure that we do not repeat the types of recreation features in both places. Clearly, Timber Park is larger and has more opportunity for standard park equipment. Hawthorne Park was at one time just two basketball courts. The smaller space at this park could be considered for a more special-use concept.

Our first step in planning was to gather an ideas list from staff and day camp children that explores as many items as possible. While the space will limit what the parks can actually accommodate, it is good to have many people contribute. With that goal, we would like you to consider sharing your ideas with us via email or Facebook.

We also invite you to come to Timber Park for a Barbeque Picnic from 6:00-8:00 p.m. the evening of July 24, 2019 to see a few initial design concepts and let us know what you think will work best for both sites.

In the meantime, feel free to email me directly with your ideas for Timber or Hawthorne Parks.

Thank you!
