Stay Healthy: Coronavirus Adaptations

March 13, 2020

Dear Residents, Families & Patrons,

In support of the recommendations and strategy from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regarding social distancing and preventative measures to limit the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread in our community, we are closing Park District of Franklin Park Facilities beginning Friday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m., with a potential return date of Monday, April 6. These dates mirror the School District Closings and provide a unified community approach.

The temporary limitation of traditional afterschool programs, team sports and social activities at the Park District will help the school closure interventions that are designed to restrain the virus spread.

Recreation event cancellations include Spring Break Camp, Days-Off Camp, Breakfast with Bunny, Flashlight Egg Hunt, and Children’s Egg Hunt. The Community Center Fitness Center, Gymnasium and Rental Rooms are closed during this period. Room Rentals will be contacted and reimbursed.

All Ice Arena Programs during this period are suspended. Ice Arena staff will provide program-specific information along with this notice.

The North Park Facility closing begins Monday, March 16 with the exception of voting for the March 17 election.

The programs, events and activities are whenever possible being suspended rather than cancelled. Every effort will be made to reschedule on an event by event basis.

We want to stress that the Coronavirus conditions are changing rapidly every day. Please note, there is no known case of COVID-19 at the Park District of Franklin Park or in our community.

The Park District will continue to work with the Franklin Park Health Department, the Illinois Department of Public Health to monitor and evaluate conditions to provide updates on our website and Facebook page. Our priority is the safety of our Park District & community residents, patrons, families & staff.

Our facility offices will be staffed to answer your questions during regular business hours. We will also provide continuous updates via email and Facebook.

We know this is a difficult time for everyone and appreciate your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Joe Modrich
