Volunteer Coaches are needed to work with our players on skills development in weekly practices and Sunday games. Training for Coaches is available. An early-season Coaches Clinic is planned for all volunteer coaches. This is a great opportunity for parents, new to the game of soccer or new to coaching to learn about the game while helping teach skills and conduct activities during weekly practices. Volunteers may contact Aneta or Miguel about coaching opportunities. Parents, don’t miss the chance to enjoy some fun time together with your child.
Thunder Soccer Travel Teams compete against other suburban teams in the area and play in the Young Sportsman’s Soccer League (YSSL) or the Women’s Illinois Soccer League (WISL). For information about the program and tryouts contact Paul Pikor at 847.494.8671. Tryouts (dates TBA) for the fall traveling teams will be coordinated by Coach Pikor.
Vipers Baseball and Softball
Looking for an opportunity for your child to experience a unique team with excellent coaches and making new friends? Franklin Park Vipers provides a youth baseball and softball program for ages 5-14 years old for residents of Franklin Park and the surrounding communities. The Vipers organization has been a proud affiliate of the Park District of Franklin Park for over fifteen years. Our players have a unique opportunity to utilize an indoor training facility that Vipers players can use for free once they are registered. The training facility has two batting cages and an open area for throwing, pitching and hitting. Experienced players can focus on enhancing their pitching, hitting and game knowledge while newer players can focus on fundamental skills. Indoor clinics and practices start after registration and continue until the weather permits players to practice outside (April 1). Our season runs from mid-April to the end of June, consisting of 16-18 games. Vipers also offers try outs for to registered players for an All Star team at each level to participate in local tournaments. 2018 Vipers can take advantage of Fall clinics (September – December) to continue enhancing their skills. Every season we look for ways of improving and with volunteer help, we can accomplish these goals. Registration for the 2019 season will be held at the practice facility located at 4045 Tugwell Street in Franklin Park in January 2019.
