The Pool on Pacific is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for your first job. After a season off, our staff is excited to get back into action! Things may be a little different, but the team is ready for a pivotal summer of returning to recreation. If you are looking for a summer job, here’s five reasons to consider becoming a lifeguard.
1. Learn Valuable Skills
Our managers take the time to teach lifeguards the knowledge of rescue techniques and pool procedures. Each guard will be trained and certified in first aid and CPR. Skills learned while lifeguarding stick with you down the line in not just lifeguarding, but real-life scenarios. The Pool on Pacific is a comfortable, safe environment that helps develop leadership and conflict resolution skills.
2. Work Outside
It’s summer after all isn’t it? You can get paid to work outside in the sun! Joining our lifeguard staff allows you to be outdoors while you learning new skills, assisting pool patrons and exercising during training. You will go back to school in the fall with a great tan. We all need some Vitamin D, but make sure you apply sunscreen! Safety first!
3. Help Others
One of the most rewarding feelings of being a lifeguard is knowing that you have helped someone. Whether that be during a save, providing first aid or customer service, helping others is what lifeguards do. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a first responder or medical professional, lifeguarding will help you gain great experience in assisting others.
4. Flexible Hours
If you are in summer classes, working another job or internship, or have a vacation planned, the Pool on Pacific provides flexible hours. Our managers are more than willing to work with you to accommodate your schedule. We know the summer is a busy season and a time for socializing. You won’t have to worry about working late into the night. There is time to hangout with your friends and family.
5. Make Lifelong Friends
There is no better way to make new friends than working at the Pool on Pacific! Lifeguards go through trainings and shifts together all summer and share a special bond through it all. You will meet people from the neighborhood or school that you might have not known before! Lifeguarding is a great chance to build lifelong relationships.
