Dear Residents,
As those who live in the Timber & Hawthorne Park neighborhoods know, the parks are not yet completed. The original schedule for completion of both sites was July last summer. Unfortunately, the Park District has been working with a contractor unable to meet multiple commitments and many promised deadlines.
While it may look like most parts of the Parks are ready, there are safety, quality, and ADA requirements that have to be completed, repaired and certified by inspection before we can safely open.
Weather is a factor, but as this week shows, it is certainly warm enough for construction. We have not yet been given a date for completion and are doing everything possible to hold the contractor accountable.
